Weapons Call

On July 28th at around 3:55 p.m., police responded to the 700 block of Flormann Street for multiple reports of a gunshot heard in the area. Police made contact with witnesses who said they saw a man running on foot who was being chased by a Ford F-150 pickup. At one point during the incident, witnesses reported hearing a gunshot come from the area of the runner and the F-150. Based on witness descriptions and information about the pickup’s license plate number, police were able to determine the pickup was registered to Eric Gonzales with a residence in the 600 block of Indiana Street. At around 4:55 p.m., police located the vehicle travelling towards this residence on Indiana Street. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted and the driver was ordered out of the vehicle. The driver was identified as Gonzales. A loaded pistol was located in the pickup, with ammunition matching that of the spent shell casing recovered from the scene of the original reported shooting. Witnesses to the earlier shooting positively identified Gonzales as the driver/shooter involved.  Gonzales was placed under arrest for Reckless Discharge of a Firearm. It is unknown at this time who the second party is in the incident, however, police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
