Adrienne Bailon Explains Why She Called Off Engagement

Andrew Eccles/Oxygen(LOS ANGELES) — Adrienne Bailon revealed on Wednesday’s The Real that she broke off her seven-month engagement to Roc Nation executive Lenny Santiago.

Tearfully addressing the audience, Bailon said: “I am not engaged anymore.”

When the audience reacted, Bailon clarified that “It’s not an ‘aww’ thing, I promise you. We’re going to be great friends forever.”

The former Cheetah Girls star, who previously admitted she was obsessed with learning tidbits about Santiago’s first marriage and wedding, explained why she broke it off in July after traveling overseas during the summer.

“It was a hard decision to make,” she said. “As women you have to be honest with yourself and I think having time on my own gave me that.”

Bailon elaborated on her decision to Us Weekly, saying: “Six years is a long time to be together, but we had to make the decision to go with our hearts and not be embarrassed or afraid of change. He absolutely helped make me a better person and I will forever cherish the time we shared together.”

Previously, Bailon was linked to Rob Kardashian, splitting with the reality star in 2009 after two years of dating.
