The female-owned business, Hippie Haven, has been working through the month of September to spread awareness about the upcoming election. They have been working with the ACLU of SD to get South Dakota residents registered to vote. They are continuing this work in October by hosting postcard writing parties with local candidates to encourage people to #getoutthevote.
The postcard writing parties are planned for October 17, and 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Four local candidates will join two of these events to meet voters and encourage them to spread the word about the importance of this upcoming election.
Toni Diamond will be joining the Hippie Haven staff and voters on October 17 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Diamond is running for District 32 House Representative.
Michael Calabrese is running for District 32 State Senate. He will be at the shop on the 17 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Dan Ahlers is running for U.S. Senate and will make an appearance at the postcard writing party on October 24.
Remi Bald Eagle will also join postcard writers at Hippie Haven on October 24. Remi is running for Public Works Commissioner.
All events are socially-distanced and masks are required to enter Hippie Haven.
