Rapid City Public Library is excited to welcome hiker, author, adventure speaker & National Geographic Adventurer of the Year Jennifer Pharr Davis on Sunday, July 15 from 2 – 3 p.m. at the downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs). Davis will share slides and stories, answer questions and read excerpts from her latest book, “The Pursuit of Endurance: Harnessing the Record-Breaking Power of Strength and Resilience.” There will be a book signing after the event. Copies will be available for sale by Mitzi’s Books.
Logging over 14,000 miles of long distance trails on six different continents, Davis has thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, the Colorado Trail, Vermont’s Long Trail, numerous European trails and the Appalachian Trail three times. In 2011, Davis covered the 2,181-mile Appalachian Trail in 46 days, 11 hours and 20 minutes, averaging 47 miles per day. This set the fastest known time (male or female) on the AT.
Davis has written six books, articles for The New York Times, Outside Magazine, Trail Runner and Backpacker; and has been featured in The Washington Post, on NPR’s Talk of the Nation and the CBS Early Show.
