Saturday, June 5th, the 3rd Annual Josh Haugen Memorial Fundraiser will take place at Canyon Lake Park. This event is all about educating the public on water safety.
In June of 1999, 17-year old Joshua R. Haugen, lost his life to a Jet Ski accident at Pactola Reservoir. One year later, in August of 2000, the Rapid City/Pennington County Water Rescue Team recovered his body. Since then, Joshua’s family has been very grateful for the Water Rescue Team and created the JRH Memorial Fundraiser to help raise awareness on water safety as well as to raise money for the Rapid City/Pennington County Water Rescue Team.
Last year, they were able to raise $1,600 for the Water Rescue Team and the family is hoping to double that amount this year.
The fundraiser will take place in the parking lot of Forest Products Distributors at Canyon Lake Park at 4200 Beach Drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be water rescue demonstrations, food trucks, games, live music, and more.
