Rapid City Public Library’s STAR_Net Explore Tech exhibit draws to a close with Lunch & Learn speaker Mitchell Rodriguez of NASA’s Jacobs Engineering and Services and Skills Augmentation (ESSA) group. Mr. Rodriguez will speak Wednesday, July 25 from noon to 1 p.m. at the downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs).
The ESSA group supports the efforts at the Advanced Concepts Office at Marshall Space Flight Center. His work includes mission architecture analysis, spacecraft concept development and technology assessment, and advanced propulsion development. He has also been involved with tool development; particularly, analysis tools used to size engines for advanced propulsion systems. Mitchell graduated with a dual bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and materials/metallurgical engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and obtained a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where he is currently pursuing a Ph.D.
Mitchell Rodriguez’s appearance is supported by STAR_Net (Science-Technology Activities and Resources for libraries), a production of the National Center for Interactive Learning at the Space Science Institute, the American Library Association, the Lunar and Planetary Institute, the Afterschool Alliance and the National Science Foundation.
