Meet K9 Jary, a Belgian Malinois who joined the RCPD’s K9 Unit in 2016 and his handler, Senior Officer Matt Hower when they visit the downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs) Monday, February 19 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Jary is certified in obedience and agility, tracking, suspect apprehension, handler and officer protection, building searches, field searches and narcotic detection. Jary is one of 3 dogs in the K9 unit of the Rapid City Police Department. They were imported from Europe and are the same breed of dog used by the US Secret Service to guard the grounds of the White House.
