A first-time Bobby Bones Show listener called in to say he agreed with Lunchbox.
Lunchbox recently complained about not getting any free gambling money or credit on the show’s upcoming Top Shelf Country cruise, and the listener agreed with him. Although he said he felt sick agreeing with him, the listener explained that if he were going on the trip, the experience he would enjoy most would be gambling with Lunchbox at the roulette table until sunrise. Lunchbox noted that the cruise organizers declined, reminding him that his room and meals were already being provided at no cost. Lunchbox remained upset that he would not also receive gambling credit despite that.
He argued that the cruise would ultimately make more money if he were given casino funds because his presence at the table would encourage other guests to continue gambling. He said people would be willing to spend more money for the experience of interacting with him, claiming the ship’s profits would increase if he were given money to spend. Bobby suggested the idea of giving Lunchbox “funny money” to play with, where he could gamble without keeping any winnings and without losing his own money. Lunchbox rejected the idea, saying if he won money, he should be allowed to keep it. Amy suggested a compromise in which Lunchbox would put up $500 and the cruise would match it to make $1,000 in total play money. Bobby predicted that Lunchbox would pocket the matched funds instead of using his own money. Lunchbox agreed he would likely just play with the cruise’s portion and keep his own. Lunchbox said he originally expected to receive $1,000 in gambling credit for the trip. Bobby disagreed and pointed out that when he has performed stand-up shows at casinos, including at the Wynn in Las Vegas, he was not given casino money. Bobby said that if he wanted to gamble, he used his own money. Lunchbox claims Bobby should have negotiated harder.
Another listener left a voicemail criticizing Lunchbox for complaining about his cruise room and comparing himself to Amy. The caller said Lunchbox should be grateful and accused him of taking snacks from the work green room, and other things from work events adding that he was no comparison to Amy. Lunchbox responded that he does not consider taking uneaten snacks to be stealing, saying if they are available and not being eaten, someone might as well take them. He also dismissed the comment about not being on Amy’s level, claiming the caller likely had a crush on her and he believes he is on the same level as Amy, if not above.
The discussion then returned to the cruise room assignments. All members of the show were given rooms, but Bobby & Amy received upgradeds room compared to Eddie, Lunchbox, Scuba Steve, and Morgan. While most of the group laughed about the difference, Lunchbox said he did not find it funny. He confronted the cruise organizers about the room selection and questioned how they made the decision. According to him, they explained that only a certain number of rooms were available.
