Bobby Stops To Help a Stranded Driver Stuck in the Ice

Bobby was driving near his house with his wife when he saw a man in a large white SUV stuck on the ice near a tree. The vehicle was spinning and unable to move, and the driver was alone.

Bobby was wearing sweats and had been dealing with several days without power, bouncing between locations, including staying in a studio used for podcasting. He asked the driver if he was okay, even though it was clear he was stuck. After the driver confirmed he couldn’t move, Bobby got out to help. Because the SUV was close to a tree, Bobby didn’t push from the back glass for safety reasons and instead stayed behind the vehicle to avoid being pinned if it slid. They first tried rocking the SUV while the driver used the gas, but it didn’t move. Bobby then worked to improve traction. Floor mats were placed under the tires, but they didn’t help because the wheels had already dug through the ice into dirt. Bobby and the driver gathered tree limbs and debris and packed them under the tires to try to gain traction.

Bobby asked his wife Caitlin to get into the SUV so the two of them could push while someone worked the gas. Bobby carefully walked her across the ice to make sure she didn’t fall. The group coordinated their efforts, watching for oncoming cars and trying repeatedly to rock the SUV over an icy lip in the road. After several attempts, the SUV finally gained traction and pulled out onto the road. During the process, Bobby became completely covered in mud. Afterward, the driver thanked Bobby and asked for a quick selfie, recognizing him from the show. They took a photo, and the driver got back into the SUV and drove away.

Once everything was over, Bobby realized how much mud he was covered in, including on his clothes, shoes, and even in his ears. He had to shower and inspect the damage to see if anything was ruined. The shoes, which happen to be some of Bobby’s favorite, were heavily covered in mud, but he’s hoping they can be salvaged.
