Lunchbox’s wife recently saw a sign for a local church offering pet blessings, a free event where people can bring their furry friends to be blessed by a priest.
She immediately thought it would be sweet for their new dog to go, saying he “needs a fresh start.” Lunchbox, on the other hand, isn’t exactly convinced. He asked if that meant the priest would need to sprinkle their dog with holy water and admitted this might be the most ridiculous thing he’s ever been asked to do. His wife doesn’t have the date yet, but plans to check when it’s happening. Meanwhile, Lunchbox is already dreading the idea, saying he’ll just be losing time. He can’t imagine there’s a big crowd for something like this, but even a short line feels like too much for him.
Amy reminded him that he’s always loved his dogs, but Lunchbox pointed out that his past dogs “lived great lives” and none of them ever got blessed. Eddie agreed it sounded silly, but admitted it was a smart idea for the church to get people in the door. As of now, Lunchbox says he’s not doing it. If his wife wants their dog blessed, she can take him herself. He even suspects this might just be her sneaky way of getting him out of the house for a bit.
Still, Bobby doesn’t think it’s over. He’s betting Lunchbox will end up doing it for her in the end.
