“It’s Getting Real”: Bobby Talks Baby Gear and Hospital Run-Throughs

Luke Combs recently described becoming a dad as “getting punched in the face.” Not in a bad way, but in the sense that it hits you hard, fast, and in ways you can’t really prepare for until you’re living it.

Bobby and the Bobby Bones Show agreed that sounded pretty accurate. Bobby admitted he’s already starting to feel those “punches” as reality sets in with all the baby gear arriving at the house. He shared that he and Caitlin just got their stroller and two car seats delivered. That led to a little confusion until he explained, one for each car. “I didn’t want to deal with moving it back and forth every time,” Bobby said. “That just looks like a nightmare.”

Still, the thought of actually driving with a baby in the backseat had the room spinning. “That’s crazy!” Eddie said. “You’re gonna be alone in the car with a baby in the backseat. That’s wild to think about.” Bobby even joked about putting a doll in the seat for practice, just to get used to having something back there other than his golf clubs. On top of the gear prep, Bobby and Caitlin are also required to do a hospital run-through before the big day. It’s basically a rehearsal for labor: where to park, which entrance to use, what floor to go to. “It’s like a class,” Bobby said. “They don’t want you wandering around when it’s go-time.”

Between the car seats, the stroller, and the hospital prep, Bobby admitted things are starting to feel very real. And expensive. “Nothing is cheap,” he laughed. “And apparently it only gets more expensive from here.”
