Amy is wanting to sell her couch online because it’s no longer fitting in her home.
However, she thinks she needs to disclose that this particular couch has cat pee on it. She has cleaned all of the pee stains, and it doesn’t have any smell. But because she has a cat, she knows that cats have a heightened sense of smell and if she sold it to someone with a cat, it could become a problem.
She thinks because of the cat pee, it could be free and when she posts it she should disclose that information. Bobby says she doesn’t need to disclose it, she cleaned it, and is selling it for a low price. Amy said she would take $100 or $150 for it. Bobby told her that she can help her “moral dilemma” by allowing them to negotiate a lower price and not negotiating back. He told her it’s not like CarFax where you have to disclose everything that’s happened to the car, it’s just a couch.
Morgan, a fellow cat owner, said it would be a kind thing to do to disclose the information because of how territorial cats can be. Plus, people will still buy it and see it as a deal, they will just know they have to get it cleaned.
