RAPID CITY'S #1 FOR NEW COUNTRY KICK 104

On April 29th at around 8:40 p.m., a police officer was exiting the law enforcement parking garage underneath the courthouse. As the garage door opened, he observed a Chevrolet Monte Carlo parked blocking the vehicle entrance to the jail. As the driver of the vehicle saw the officer, the vehicle pulled out onto Saint Joseph Street. The officer followed the vehicle and observed it drift into the right parking lane. The vehicle then swerved abruptly to avoid colliding with a construction sign. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle near the intersection with East Boulevard. Police made contact with the driver, identified as 28-year-old Day Simic of Rapid City. Police noted the strong smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person and observed several open alcohol container in the vehicle. Following a DUI investigation, Simic was placed under arrest for DUI and Improper Lane Change. A second occupant of the vehicle, 35-year-old Shane Sievers of Rapid City, was placed under arrest for Open Container in a Motor Vehicle and a Probation Hold. They were both transported to the Pennington County Jail.
