RAPID CITY'S #1 FOR NEW COUNTRY KICK 104

At around 8:15 p.m. on January 11th, police observed a Dodge Magnum southbound in on East Boulevard without a properly illuminated rear license plate. A traffic stop was attempted on the vehicle as it turned onto East Boulevard North. The vehicle did not stop for police. The pursuit continued into the north portion of Rapid City before heading west on Omaha Street. At the intersection of Omaha Street and Mountain View Road, police were able to successfully deploy spike strips on the suspect vehicle. The Magnum then turned onto West Chicago Street, then 32nd Street, and then headed east onto West Main Street. The vehicle started losing traction on its tires and spun out as it attempted to turn onto Saint Onge Street. The vehicle came to a stop, but the suspect driver exited the car and began to run to east. After a short foot pursuit, officers were able to detain the male driver after he slipped and fell. He was identified as 32-year-old Joseph Whiteface of Rapid City. Jewelers bags containing a white substance were located on his person. These would field-test positive for methamphetamine. A search of the vehicle turned up several syringes. A field-test on one of the syringes also tested positive for methamphetamine. Whiteface was placed under arrest for Aggravated Eluding, Obstruction, Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Warrant, and a Parole Hold. He was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
