A man with an outstanding out-of-state warrant for child sexual exploitation, wanted for the last four years, was captured September 9, 2018, in Rapid City. Christopher Golden, 48, was a fugitive out of Colorado Springs, Colorado, with a charge of sexual exploitation of a minor in 2014.
The Black Hills Fugitive Task Force made up of Deputies from the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office and United States Marshals made the arrest Sunday at a Rapid City business. In the last four years, Golden moved frequently, including to Texas and California before his latest relocation to South Dakota.
The team was able to recover all the forged documents Golden used to get his job and hide from authorities. He was subsequently charged with forgery and substitute license plates. Golden is in the Pennington County Jail.
“It’s quite a catch,” says Sergeant Todd Battest with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office. “We work hard to keep dangerous people off our streets. We can only hope this arrest brings some security and closure to the victims.” Battest and five members of the task force made the arrest Sunday afternoon where Golden worked.
