The driver of the vehicle was reported to be 20-year-old Michael Croyle of Rapid City, who is a parole absconder. A few minutes later, police located the suspect vehicle travelling north on 5th Street. A traffic stop on the vehicle was attempted, but the vehicle sped up in an attempt to flee from police. The suspect vehicle turned west onto North Street and then north onto Farlow Avenue. The pursuit stayed generally in this area of the city. As the vehicle was westbound on Minuteman Drive, it encountered a dead end near the Horace Mann Pool. Croyle exited the vehicle as it was still rolling and began running from the location. The K9 was then deployed to apprehend Croyle. The K9 bit Croyle and brought him to the ground. After numerous commands to show his hands, Croyle finally complied and the K9 released the bite. Croyle was placed in handcuffs. Police located items containing marijuana and a substance field-testing positive for methamphetamine in Croyle’s immediate vicinity. The female suspect was identified as 24-year-old Jasmyn Hall of Rapid City. A syringe was located in her purse which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. A search of the vehicle turned up a loaded handgun and more marijuana. On further investigation, police determined that the handgun located in the vehicle was stolen.
