At approximately 5:00 p.m. on November 15th, Rapid City Police responded to a crash in the 1500 block of Haines Ave. A GMC pickup traveling south on Haines Avenue struck a pedestrian crossing Haines Ave. The pedestrian was crossing from the east to the west.
During the course of the investigation, witnesses indicated that the pedestrian had run into the roadway outside of the established crosswalk.
The pedestrian was transported to the hospital and later died of his injuries. He is identified as 43-year-old Jason Loafer of Kyle.
The RCPD’s Critical Accident Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the crash. At this time, no charges have been sought in the incident.
