This morning during the big show we talked about celebrity encounters or a cool autograph you may have gotten. I have been fortunate in this business to meet many artists and entertainers, but when you meet someone away from work or not at a station event, you really see how celebrities treat the everyday person. One of my fondest memories of a celebrity run in was with Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Aniston, and Peter Billingsley (Ralphie from Christmas Story), they were filming for the movie 'The Break-Up and wanted to use the upstairs of the building I worked at. Vince was the same guy you see in the movies, quick witted, funny, and the type of guy you felt you knew your whole life; Peter Billingsley was excited to be directing the movie and you could tell how passionate about his job he was as he explained how everything works; and Jennifer Aniston truly is America's sweetheart. They had lunch with us, shared stories of their careers, told jokes, and treated a bunch of construction workers like we were regulars on the Hollywood scene. Right before they were ready to leave, I'll never forget when Jennifer Aniston opened her arms to give me a hug goodbye, I was dirty from working all morning and didn't want to get her dirty in her pretty little blue sundress. She told me she didn't mind at all and insisted I give her a hug! Find a guy who would turn down that offer, well maybe minus Brad Pitt... Just goes to show you that there are celebrities out there who really do appreciate the fans who see their movies or listen to their music or whatever it may be. Unfortunately we couldn't let them use the space because of jobs we had to do and they would've needed to shut us down for a few weeks while filming the scenes, but I had a new found respect for the three of them. Thanks for making that one of the best days of my life.
