Today, the facility known as the Sioux San Indian Health Services Hospital rests on a vista overlooking Rapid City that is part of a 1,200-acre parcel of land that belonged to the Rapid City Indian Boarding School. Join Kibbe Rencountre, Wednesday, October 17 from noon to 1 p.m. at the downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs) as she shares the history of the lands, how it has affected our community and provides new research and current unfolding developments on the subject.
Kibbe Conti is an Oglala Sioux tribal member and a founding member of the Rapid City Indian Lands research team. Conti leads the Historical Committee for the Sioux San Indian Health Service with expertise in the boarding school and tuberculosis clinic eras of Sioux San.
Although lunch reservations are full at this time, you’re welcome to bring a lunch or just attend. Lunch is provided by the Friends of the Library and Great Harvest Bread Co.
