Don't Believe Everything You See

by Ian Rambo posted Oct 18 2013 12:00PM
I can remember in grade school and Junior High when teachers were telling us about the internet and everything you could read on it (after the 5-10 minutes it took dial up to load the page ), and they warned us that you shouldn't believe everything you see on it.

So why does everyone believe just about ANYTHING they see on Facebook? Every October, people post that "Today is the day Marty McFly traveled to in Back to the Future 2"...which isn't until 2015 by the way. Lately, a lot of people are making their status on Facebook something about how at a certain time (usually whenever that person is posting the update) they no longer give Facebook permission to use their media (pictures and other things that might be on that person's profile). It also suggests that others do the same, and that you can copy their status as yours.

Here's the thing: a status update does absolutely NOTHING to change Facebook's permissions for whatever might be on your profile. Check it out: http://www.snopes.com/computer/facebook/privacy.asp

So the next time you see something that looks fishy, please take an extra couple of minutes and research it.
