Scuba & His Wife Debating Situation With Upcoming Birth of Third Child

Scuba Steve and his wife have a third child on the way. The baby arrives early January 2023 and there’s been quite the situation happening in their house because of it.

He told The Bobby Bones Show this morning (September 12) that it’s rocked their family in a good and bad way. They’re excited to welcome a new life into the world and into their family, but it’s going to be a big change on them financially. So for the last several months, they’ve been weighing out their best options about getting a nanny versus his wife becoming a stay-at-home mother. His wife has been working since she was 15-years-old, so she really enjoys being at work and not spending all of her days at home. Originally when Scuba took the job in Nashville, he says she promised to be a stay-at-home mom, but after about a month she got a job and was back to working. It was working fine for their lifestyle until she got pregnant with their third child.

So after some hard conversations, they decided financially it would be the best situation for their family if she became a stay-at-home mom. She will finish working at her job at the end of this month. Scuba said she really loved the job, so much so that she cried at their last meeting and now she’s really nervous about being at home all the time. However, Scuba is really happy about the new change because he’s always wanted his wife to be the one raising their children rather than a nanny or other type of childcare. He has always felt that way because his mom was a stay-at-home mom and loved how that situation was for him as a kid.

Amy encouraged him to go to couples therapy. However, Scuba had a bad experience with therapy as a kid and he doesn’t want to go. Though his wife goes to therapy by herself. Bobby thinks Scuba is bullying his wife into being a stay-at-home mom and suggested they only do a trial period. After about 4 or 5 months, they re-evaluate to see how she’s feeling about their new situation.
