Restless Road has been pursuing music ever since their time on X Factor back in 2013. The band has gone through phases of different members since their time on the show, but Restless Road currently consists of Zach, Colton, and Garrett. The stopped by The Bobby Bones Show for their first ever appearance today (March 30) where they performed a medley of country hits and talked about their connection to Kane Brown.
When Restless Road was on X Factor, the original members of the band all wanted to be solo acts, but the show turned them into the band everyones knows now as Restless Road. Brown was also on the show at the same time and was asked to be part of the group. But he declined so that he could continue pursuing a solo music career. Fast forward to recent years where Brown became a wildly successful solo artist and is now helping Restless Road down the same path. Restless Road admitted that being a group comes with more challenges, but they all have been enjoying their time in the process together. The group hasn’t had a blowout fight yet, adding that they communicate quickly and make sure to say how they really feel.
The Bobby Bones Show got to know the band and each of their backgrounds. Zach grew up with music around him since his dad is a choir director. They lived in several different cities, which is why Zach doesn’t really claim a hometown. While his moving around made him come out of his shell and learn to adapt to new situations, Zach never let his dad hear him sing growing up. He didn’t want his dad to correct him, but now obviously that’s not the case. Zach’s dream is to have a choir remix of one of their songs and have his dad come out for show’s to direct it. Colton is from a small town of around 272 people in West Virginia. He got married when he was 20-years-old and they’ve been together for 7 years. He and his wife have a 2-year-old and 4-year-old. Garrett is from Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he spent his entire life until he was 18-years-old and moved to Nashville. He’s a big Alabama football fan, and admitted it’s crazy to see the football program now compared to when he was a kid. All 3 of the guys play guitar, and Colton also plays piano.
Some Bachelor fans may have caught Restless Road on the most recent season during episode 4. The guys are actually huge fans of the entire Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise and have watched it religiously for over 8 years so when they were asked to be on the show, they were excited to say the least. They shared some behind-the-scenes details of the whole ordeal. The band was setup at a farmhouse and were kept secret until dinner time, which was around midnight. They were just told to watch for the barn door to open and immediately start playing when it opens. The suspense nearly killed them as they were waiting for several minutes for the two love birds to come in, and as soon as they walked in they started making out. The guys shared they had to perform the song a few times for the camera team to get different angles.
Restless Road performed a medley of Josh Turner’s “Your Man,” Jason Aldean’s “Big Green Tractor,” Toby Keith’s “Should’ve Been A Cowboy,” and George Strait’s “Check Yes or No” as well as their new single “Growing Old With You.” Fans can see them on the road for their headlining The Bar Friends Tour.
