Maren Morris’ new album Humble Quest is out today. It’s Morris’ third record and she stopped by The Bobby Bones Show to share some details about the project.
For her first two records, Morris admitted that she felt insecure and was trying to find her rhythm and place as an artist in the country genre. With Humble Quest, she feels like for this release day she gets to breathe a little easier. She feels less pressure as well, especially since she created it during the pandemic while she was at home. She wasn’t rushed to finish it which allowed her to write and have fun with it. Morris feels like the songs on Humble Quest reflect that mentality.
While some artists may be obsessed with checking the numbers on how their project is doing on streaming or the charts, Morris is the opposite. She confessed she doesn’t pay attention to streams or downloads because it doesn’t make her happy or feel any better to do that. She just lets her team tell her when there is good news. Morris believes it was her job to make the best art she could make as well as promote it to the best of her ability, and anything after that she has no control over. So as Humble Quest got released to the world today, she plans to chill and enjoy the fruits of her labor. Adding that she hopes the project does connect with her fans, because that’s what she really wants it to do the most.
Morris is hitting the road to headline the Humble Quest Tour and shared that fans can expect it to be the majority of her new music played. Though she does plan to throw in a few fan favorites of her old hits, and possibly a cover or two. She’s also nominated for two GRAMMYs, Best Country Song and Best Duo/Group Performance for “Chasing After You.”
