Amy’s 11-year-old son recently asked her for something that he’s never asked for before. He finished his school day, his jiu jitsu practice and they were heading to dinner when he made his request.
He asked that they have a quiet dinner, which meant no talking throughout the duration. Amy was proud of him for speaking out about his needs, so she took him to dinner and they sat in quiet. Though Amy admitted afterward some listeners came up to her to say hi and she felt she needed to clarify with them about the dinner. She told them she’s not a bad mom not talking to her son, she was just following his request.
