Texas high school student Maddie Barber showed several swine at the Kendall County Junior Livestock Show and earned big money doing it.
It was at the Junior Livestock Show that Barber earned $30,500 after showing two Yorks, a Duroc, and a Cross in the swine show. She announced that she is going to donate all of her earnings to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where she was treated for brain cancer four years ago.
Barber was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in 2017 and has been cancer-free since 2018. She is a FFA officer and a National Honor Society member and wants to be sure that future patients at St. Jude get treatment and be able to pursue activities they enjoy like she is.
