TMSG: Man’s Newly Rescued German Shepherd Saved His Life During Stroke

59-year-old Brian Myers recently rescued German Shepherd Sadie back in October. He had been warned she had issues after being surrendered by her former owner, but adopted her anyways because he felt a special bond with Sadie.

The sweet pup ended up literally saving Myers life in return. Myers suffered a stroke on January 16th and collapsed on his bedroom floor. Sadie jumped down and laid down next to him and wouldn’t leave him alone as she licked his face. Myers told ABC 7, “I thought maybe I could use her as a counterweight to get myself up off the floor, and I grabbed her collar to try to do so, and she some how instinctively knew to help me by pulling her body weight and pulling me enough to give me the momentum to get myself out of the corner that I was stuck in.”

Myers is recovering and expected to be released from rehabilitation next week. He’s excited to be reunited with Sadie and will definitely be giving her lots of love for her heroic actions. Sadie will also be honored by PETA with a Heroic Dog Award.
