TMSG: Woman Saves Man From Burning Car

Rebecca Dabney from Fort Myers, Florida was driving when she saw a car on fire and was prepared to jump into action.

Dabney saw a flipped car that was burning on I-75 in Fort Meyers. She saw that the driver was trapped inside. Instead of driving away, Dabney got out of her car with her switchblade. She ran over to the car and was able to cut him out of his seatbelt just in time.

She told the news“I’ve seen a lot of car fires over the years so I knew that the car was going to go up into flames pretty quickly. So I grabbed my micro tech [knife] and cut the seatbelt, and me and a few of the bystanders were able to pull him out and get him to safety.” Dabney was a police officer for 13 years in California, and thankfully she was in the right place at the right time to help this stranger.

With the help of bystanders, they were able to pull the man out of the car after Dabney cut out the seatbelt. They got about 30 to 40 feet away from the vehicle when the car went up in flames.
