On July 8th around 5:05 p.m. an officer was in the area of 1601 Haines Avenue when he was flagged down to assist at that address. After pulling into the parking lot, the officer observed a female on the ground near the gas pumps that had been run over by a vehicle. A medical unit was called to the location and the female was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. After speaking to witnesses, it was learned that the suspect vehicle had been stolen earlier in the day. Friends of the owner of the vehicle had located it at 1601 Haines Avenue. During a confrontation with the juvenile suspect, the juvenile backed the vehicle into a nearby pickup truck before pulling forward and striking the female. A short time after the incident took place, police located the vehicle in the parking lot at 1515 Space Avenue unoccupied. Police located the suspect driver at a nearby apartment and took him into custody.
