Netflix Is Rebooting Classic TV Series “Unsolved Mysteries”

Netflix is rebooting the classic television show “Unsolved Mysteries.”

The creators of the original “Unsolved Mysteries” and the producers of “Stranger Things” have teamed up to reboot the series. They shared a trailer of the upcoming reboot this week. The first “Unsolved Mysteries” will contain 12 episodes and premiere on Netflix on July 1st.

“Unsolved Mysteries” documents cold cases and paranormal occurrences. The original show was created in 1987 and had a 10-year run on NBC, before moving to CBS, Lifetime, and Spike TV, where the show’s run ended in 2010. In the series’ synopsis from Netflix, they shared that reboot will fuse signature elements from the original series with contemporary immersive, character-driven storytelling. The 12 new episodes are “rooted in the experiences of ordinary people who lived the unthinkable.”

It was also noted that the reboot would not have a host as the creative team did not want to find a replacement for Robert Stack, who hosted and narrated the show for 15 years and died in 2003.
