TMSG: 10-Year-Old Raises Money To Donate 200 Gift Cards To Police Officers

10-year-old Hannah Imig heard that Chesterfield police officers were going to lose some of their pay due to financial issues from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Imig knew she wanted to help in someway. At first, she told her mother she wanted to donate some of her savings to them. Then she went even further to decide to create a fundraiser to buy gift cards for them. She wrote a handwritten letter and posted it on her mom’s Facebook page. In the letter, she asks for donations.

One particular quote in the letter that struck a chord with people,

“Police officers are very important people, right? They protect us even when it’s dangerous. They sacrifice themselves for strangers! Now that’s empathetic.”

In just one day and a half, she collected $2,4000. She used that to purchase 232 gift cards to distribute among the officers. It was enough for each officer and civilian police employee to have two gift cards each.

The police department shared the news on their Facebook page saying, “A little kindness can change the world.” You did just that Hannah! Thank you”
