‘Tiger King’ has become a massive hit on Netflix in recent weeks. The Bobby Bones Show brought on Joe Exotic’s husband Dillon Passage to share some of his story as well as if the Netflix show got everything right.
Passage said since the show has taken off, he’s gotten recognized even while on the river and while getting pulled over. He even had to get a manager to take in the influx of people asking him for interviews and appearances. When asked if Exotic knows how famous he is, Passage said the day after the show dropped Exotic started getting slots of letters and emails and he “absolutely enjoys the attention.” As far as being able to take in the fame, not so much. Exotic was in jail in Oklahoma, but has since been moved to a jail in Texas and is in isolation without much communication to the outside world, not even with Passage.
Despite the lack of communication, Passage says he plans to wait for Exotic to get out of jail, but they have had a conversation about a possibility of him moving on if he meets a good person. Passage doesn’t believe that will happen though, he wants to be there for Exotic as Exotic was there for him when they first met and kept a lot of the negative things out of Passage’s life for him. Passage shared that the two of them met on the dating app Grindr and on their first date Exotic sang to him and he got to play with tiger cubs.
As far as the Netflix series goes, Passage says he believes they portrayed everyone to be who they are, but you could tell they had an agenda. While Passage wasn’t asked to be on the extra episode, Exotic was but obviously couldn’t due to being in isolation. Of course, Bobby Bones asked Passage the hot question on everyone’s mind… Did he think Carole Baskin killed her husband? To which Passage responded, “Check the septic tank and we’ll find out.”
