Jo’s Album Review- “Never Will” by Ashley McBryde

Coming from a town of less than 4,000, Ashley McBryde has for sure made her place in country music. Hailing from such a small town, you can hear her experiences of life through her music. “Never Will” is her sophomore album, and what she has written and provided us so far, I can’t wait to see what else is coming from her in the future. She is a true story teller and has been recognized by many winning CMA New Artist of the Year, CMT Breakthrough Video of the year and ACM New Female Vocalist of the Year. We will for sure see her up on the stage being recognized for her capabilities as an artist for many years to come.

Over this last week, during the New at Noon I have played a song off of her album “Never Will” staring on Monday with “Hang In There Girl” followed by “Sparrow” then Wednesday “Martha Devine” on Thursday “Stone” and the final tune of the week for Friday “Never Will” the title track of the album. There are eleven tracks on this album, so selecting only five to play was and always is a challenge. Each song takes you somewhere and leaves you to fill in the story with what you are going through, every song an individual can relate to the lyrics. The entire album, just like her others is jam packed full of amazing music, take a listen.

Here are a few I didn’t get to play, but worth a listen.

“Styrofoam” – Yes, the exact product that insulates, cushions packaging, I mean the list goes on and on. Just listen to this song that has a little humor, a little history plus a catchy chorus all about styrofoam.

“First Thing I Reach For” – Starts with a great sound, an old school twang. A fantastic song mentioning our vices if we fall prey to them. A great music video from her travels on the road as well.

I love everything about Ashely McBryde, she is honest, talented and ready to take on a challenge with her music and kick butt in the process. Now is the time to jump on the “Trybe” Train and stick around for a long ride, cause she isn’t going anywhere.

I give “Never Will” 5 out of 5 Dudes
