Three businesses fail Pennington County alcohol compliance check

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office conducted compliance checks of county alcohol establishments, Friday evening, February 28, 2020. A total of 12 businesses were checked. Three businesses were in violation caught selling alcohol to underage informants.

The following nine businesses were in compliance:

Corner Pantry, 4602 E. Highway 44,​ Rapid City

Dollar General, 4887 Longview Road, Rapid City

TK Saloon, 15350 E. Highway 44, Rapid City

Country Corner, 15996 E. Highway 44, Caputa

Flying J Travel Center, 4200 S. I-90 Service Road,​ Box Elder

The J Bar, 4200 S. I-90 Service Road,​ Box Elder

Yes Way, 640 Box Elder Road, Box Elder

Dollar General, 430 N. Ellsworth Road,​ Box Elder

Loaf ‘N Jug, 437 N. Ellsworth Road,​ Box Elder

Three businesses sold alcohol to an underage informant:

Valley Square Casino, 3064 E. Highway 44, Suite 201,​ Rapid City

Sally O’Malley’s, 3064 E. Highway 44, Suite 206,​ Rapid City

Love’s Travel Stop, 679 Reagan Avenue,​ Box Elder

An employee at each of these three business was issued a citation. Furnishing alcohol to a minor is a class 2 misdemeanor punishable by 30 days in jail and/or a $500 fine.
