COVID-19 UPDATE:

After being delayed a couple of months due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Buffalo Chip Poster Model Search is back! Ladies, you’re down to your final opportunities to participate–take a look at the new schedule and be sure to mark your calendar for one of the final preliminaries. More dates will be added soon, so please check back for updates. Sign ups start at 8pm for all remaining preliminary events, but don’t wait to arrive & sign up: in an effort to abide to social distancing and CDC guidelines, we can only have 15 ladies competing at each event–first come first served.

Preliminaries

Saturday, June 6th at Road Hog Saloon in Rapid City, SD

Semi-Finals:

Saturday, June 13th at the Knuckle Saloon in Sturgis, SD
Thursday, June 18th at Valley Sports Bar in Rapid City, SD
Saturday, June 20th at the Back Porch in Spearfish, SD

Finals:

Saturday June, 27th at Robbinsdale Lounge in Rapid City, SD

 

To help keep everyone safe at each event, we’ll be taking these steps:

  • Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes will be available at each event
  • Encourage safe distancing for contestants and crowd
  • Contestant mic will be sanitized after each contestant

 

If you’ve ever dreamt of becoming a model, the Buffalo Chip’s annual Poster Model Search presented by Bud Light Seltzer & KICK 104 is the perfect opportunity to show the world that you have what it takes to score the Rally’s most coveted modeling job!

It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that could be yours!

Winning the search will put you in the spotlight at The Best Party Anywhere and get you featured on the Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s 2020 Poster as well as other marketing materials.

In addition, you’ll reign as the 2020 Poster Model at the Buffalo Chip, meeting new people at fun events, signing posters as a rally celebrity and strutting your stuff at the industry’s hottest events.

Here’s how you do it:

Come to one of the many local bars hosting a Poster Model event. After you sign up, you’ll come on stage (in your street clothes) with one of the KICK 104 DJ’s and answer a couple questions about yourself. Do your best to leave an impression on the crowd, and more importantly, the judges! At each event, the judges select a handful of ladies to move on to the Semi-Finals being held at The Back Porch in Spearfish on April 18th. Then we move to the Finals at the Robbinsdale in Rapid City on May 2nd, where one lucky lady will be crowned the 2020 Buffalo Chip Poster Model!

  • EVERY lady who enters and answers a couple of questions about themselves on stage gets a FREE pass to the concert of their choice to the Chip.
  • Each semi-finalist that competes on 4/18 in Spearfish will be awarded one (1) Early Bird (14-day) pass wristband, if and only if they compete in the Semi-Finals on the date and at venue set. This 14-day pass replaces the one-day pass previously earned. All contestants are eligible for one pass only.
  • The GRAND PRIZE:In addition to becoming the face of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip for 2020, the Poster Model winner will receive $1,500, plus the winner will participate in a professional photo shoot for the Buffalo Chip shortly after the end of the promotion and will receive a modeling fee of $500.

How to Enter and Win in 6 Easy Steps!

    1. Attend one or more of the Poster Model Search stops listed above. 
      The better you look when you show up, the better your chances of advancing to the semi-finals.
    2. Answer a few simple questions.
      Don’t worry! There usually isn’t a right or wrong answer. The judges are simply assessing the way you handle yourself on the microphone and in front of people. Watch this video to see what you might be asked when you enter the Poster Model Search:
  1. Take a sexy selfie wearing a Bud Light Seltzer Tank Top & a Bud Light Seltzer in your hand. (If you don’t have a Smartphone, have a friend take a picture for you.)
    A little note about your selfies:
    No nudity. Please don’t send it because we can’t post it.
    Swimsuits are okay, but no shots of you in your underwear please.
    You may submit up to two different selfies.
    Get ideas on how to pose by checking out last year’s selfies
  2. E-mail the photo to getsocial@buffalochip.com.
    Include your name (or whatever you want to call yourself, within the realm of decency) in the email, and use the bar where you qualified as the subject line.
  3. Wait for your selfie to post on the Legendary Buffalo Chip Facebook page, then share it with all of your friends.
    The judges may consider the number of likes you have by the semi-finals, and your social network could help you become the next Sturgis Buffalo Chip Poster Model. (Not all photos will be posted. Whether a photo is posted is the sole discretion of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip.)
  4. Compete in the Semi-Finals.
    If you make it to semi-finals, you’ll compete in three categories:
    Round 1: Cocktail Dresses
    Round 2: Daisy Dukes
    Round 3: Bikinis

5 Important Hints for Contestants

  1. If you don’t win the first time you compete, try again. 
    Several competitors have become eventual winners by competing in multiple contests.
  2. This is NOT a “skin-to-win” competition. 
    We want our representative to be sexy, not sleazy. Models who show too much do not win.
  3. Don’t be THAT girl.
    We want girls who know how to have a good time and can encourage others to do the same. By this standard, intoxicated contestants aren’t considered good representatives. It’s no problem if you have a couple Bud Lights to take the edge off your stage fright. It is a problem if you have six.
  4. Bring your A-game.
    The judges will be watching your demeanor onstage and off. How you interact with others will affect your chances of winning.
  5. Don’t delay.
    If you qualify for semi-finals, get those selfies in as soon as you can. The quicker we get them, the quicker they can go up, and the more time you have to gather likes and shares.

Grand Prize

  • 2 – Nine-day passes to the Buffalo Chip during the 2020 Sturgis Rally (Passes grant winners free access to all Buffalo Chip concerts and non-ticketed events.)
  • Modeling contract for the Best Party Anywhere, which includes a full day professional photo shoot for advertisements, billboards and posters
  • $2000 Cash Prize
  • Complimentary boudoir/modeling shoot in studio at Henry Roy Photography, complete with retouching, 5”x5” proof book of images and USB containing high resolution files from in-studio and semi-finals sessions ($949 value). Prints not included.
  • Appearance fees for autograph sessions around the Black Hills prior to the Sturgis Rally.
  • Opportunity to earn thousands of dollars from hourly wage and tips for daily appearances at the Buffalo Chip during its Sturgis Rally festival.
  • Opportunity to make appearances and participate in Sturgis Buffalo Chip events including the Legends Ride®.

2nd Place
