In the ensuing investigation following today’s law enforcement response to the 800 block of 5th Street, police conducted interviews with at least 15 individuals about the incident. It has been determined that at least one round was fired in the direction of 422 Columbus Street from a vehicle parked at the scene. Two adult occupants an apartment within the building were arrested for warrants unrelated to the incident. One juvenile was also taken into custody in relation to a stolen vehicle also recovered from the scene. The gun involved in the incident has been recovered, however, the vehicle in which it was fired still needs to be processed for evidence. This active ongoing criminal investigation is centered on juveniles. As this is the case, our ability to share details about the ongoing investigation is limited. We recognize that shutting down a section of one of the city’s busiest roads created a large impact to traffic, however, we would like to thank the public for their patience as we worked to resolve a situation involving the discharge of a firearm in the city’s busy downtown area in the safest manner possible.
