Dorothy ‘Mercy’ Ballard’s house has been on Ben Bird’s trash pickup route for the last eight years. The pair started a friendship after Bird when make regular stops for a chat with “his favorite lady.”
Bird found out he was going to be collecting her trash on her 100th birthday, he decided to do something a little more. Bird along with 2 colleagues, brought Ballard a cake lit with candles that wrote out 100. They knocked on her door and immediately starting singing ‘Happy Birthday.’
In the adorable video, Ballard is told to make a wish and she’s stumped so Bird suggests “105.” In a cute response, Ballard responds “shut up” and now the video is going viral.
