Looks like Taylor Swift has a fan in Keith Urban!
On Saturday night (August 31) during a show at the Washington State Fair, Urban covered Swift’s latest single, “Lover.” In a video he posted to Instagram on Sunday (September 1), Urban wrote, “Every now and then you hear a song that you love and wish you’d written…and a HUGE thx to my band as well- we didn’t get to rehearse so…this is us fully winging it.”
Swift could not contain her excitement after hearing about Urban’s performance. “Keith Urban covering Lover flawlessly,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “I am screaming. This is so beautiful.”
This isn’t the first time Urban’s expressed his admiration for Swift’s music. Previously on Twitter, Urban wrote “Huge shoutout today to @taylorswift13 on the SUBERB new single LOVER. When a song so exquisitely written becomes a record so gorgeously crafted I feel such a deep sense of gratitude for the ‘art’ of making music.”
Swift, clearly a big fan of Urban, responded saying, “ARE YOU KIDDING ME THIS IS THE NICEST THING ANYONE HAS EVER SAID- you’re just the best and so kind to say this.”
“Lover” is the title track to Swift’s seventh studio album which just dropped on August 23. Taste of Country reports that since the release, Lover hit #1 in 98 countries on iTunes. On the Spotify U.S. chart, every song debuted in the top 25 with 9 in the top 10. The album also broke the global record as the top album debut in history of Amazon Music.
