Chris Young Announces Heartfelt New Single ‘Drowning’

Following up his most recent hit “Raised On Country,” Chris Young has announced that his new single will be the heartfelt fan-favorite, “Drowning.”

The song, written by Young himself alongside Corey Crowder and Josh Hoge, is an emotional song partially inspired by the death of Young’s friend, Adam. “I actually wrote this song with two of my really good friends, Corey Crowder and Josh Hoge,” Young says. “All of us were writing to that hook which Corey actually brought in that day, and we just all thought that it was an amazing idea and it was something that was gonna touch pretty much anybody that has ever lost anyone.”

He continues sharing, “I actually wrote it about a friend of mine, Adam, who passes away many years ago. It’s just a really, really special song to me and I hope it really touches a lot of people.”

The song already has had such a powerful impact on fans. Young revealed to Taste of Country that the song has recently transformed his meet-and-greets into very emotional experience with fans. “So many people have their own stories, Young shared. “People are walking up to me at meet-and-greets saying ‘I just want you to know I lost my brother, and this song makes me think of them.’ I mean, that’s something special.”

The upcoming new album is expected to have several exciting collaborations, featuring artists like Kane Brown and Lauren Alaina. “I’ve [also] got a collab with Brad Paisley and Riley Green on the record,” Young shared with The Boot. “So, lots of stuff for people to dig into. I don’t wanna give too much away as far as titles and stuff, but I’m really pumped for people to hear it.”

“Drowning” is set to impact country radio on September 23. Take a listen to the new single below.
