Brad Paisley Helps Jimmy Kimmel Welcome Immigrants To America: Watch

Brad Paisley and Jimmy Kimmel came up with the coolest way to give immigrants a warm welcome to America.

Given the polarizing conversations of becoming an American in today’s social climate, Kimmel decided to tap the country crooner to help welcome new citizens with a special song during last night’s (August 6) episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

“This is a very strange time in a America,” Kimmel told the crowd. “Our president is building walls and telling people to go back where they came from. With all that happening it’s important to remember that many people still dream of becoming Americans. Every week immigrants from all around the world take the oath of citizenship.”

Kimmel understands these ceremonies are a big deal, so they shouldn’t be held in uneventful places like courthouses, libraries or auditoriums. So he decided to make the moment “more exciting than a trip to the DMV” by putting on a special celebration to welcome the citizens to the country.

During the segment, the talk show host even enlisted someone to announce each citizen to the stage in WWE-style, before Paisley launched into a number about all the freedoms (however unusual) and opportunities America has to offer. “Congratulations citizens/ We’re happy that you’re here/ Come on in and take a load off/ Grab yourself an ice cold beer,” the 46-year-old sings, as he added to the list of American liberties: “You can exercise your freedom of speech/ eat a sticka’ butter at a county fair/ Wear your Crocs will a pair of socks/ Go to Target in your underwear.”

Just as the ceremony comes to an end, an eagle mascot makes its way around the stage as blasts of confetti are shot all over the new citizens.
