The Highwomen Cover Fleetwood Mac’s ‘The Chain’: Listen

The Highwomen made their live debut at the legendary Newport Folk Festival last weekend, which included “the first gay country song,” “If She Ever Leaves Me,” and shared the stage with none other than Dolly Parton for a special all-female performance called “♀♀♀♀: The Collaboration,” where they performed the queen of country’s iconic hits “Jolene,” “Just Because I’m a Woman,” and “Eagle When She Flies.” During the weekend, the all-female country supergroup consisting of Maren MorrisBrandi CarlileAmanda Shires, and Natalie Hemby also performed a rousing cover of Fleetwood Mac‘s 1977 classic “The Chain.” Now, the quartet has released a recorded version of the song for our listening pleasure.

The ladies stay pretty true to the original, incorporating that stomping intro and, of course, mesmerizing harmonies. The cover is slated to appear on the soundtrack for The Kitchen, which stars Tiffany HaddishMelissa McCarthy, and Elisabeth Moss.
