Dierks Bently Spontaneously Adopts Puppy During His ‘Today’ Show Visit

Dierks Bently didn’t anticipate leaving his Today show appearance with a newly adopted puppy, but the country crooner did so and he couldn’t have seemed happier with the new addition to the family.

On Thursday (August 1), the 43-year-old singer partook in the morning show’s Citi Concert Series, as well as an interview about his upcoming Seven Peaks Music Festival and other ventures. During the Dogust segment, he was assigned to hold a Border Collie mix named Goose and it appeared like love at first sight. In case you weren’t aware, Dogust is a reoccurring tradition that is meant to encourage people to adopt shelter dogs during the month of August. “I feel a connection. I feel like it’s meant to be,” a smiling Bentley said during the appearance. His wife, Cassidy, and their three kids, Evie, Jordan and Knox, were watching from home, so a text message from the family urging him to take Goose home followed afterwards. Needless to say, he obliged. Goose is now one of three canine members after Patch and Emmy.

“Well…. the last thing I was expecting to happen today,” the singer captioned the video. “But feel like it was meant to be. Welcome to the family Goose/Garrett (there was some confusion on which of the brothers he was….). That’s a wrap on @todayshow. Thanks….I think?! Off to @petco and then meet up with #burningmantour
