On the latest episode of The BobbyCast, Bones had on Thomas Rhett. At the time, the podcast was just meant to be about Rhett and his career. That was until Rhett dropped the news first to Bones he and his wife Lauren were having another baby girl. While the podcast was held for a day to allow Rhett and his wife to announce the news on their social media, the podcast was the first place Rhett shared the big news.
Rhett told Bones that he was really hoping to have a boy, and he’s really not looking forward to paying for three weddings in a joking manner. He went on to say that he and Lauren have always wanted a big family and at an already crazy time in their lives, this exciting news came. Lauren is due with the new Rhett family member in February.
Also on the podcast, Rhett talked about what it was like growing up with a famous dad, Rhett Akins. He casually mentioned that he would spend a lot of time at Reba McEntire’s house as a child amongst other country star’s homes. Thomas Rhett shared that he and his dad are in the best place they’ve ever been and they’re best friends.
Something not as easy for Thomas Rhett has been the mean comments and trolls he has to deal with online. He said the things he gets the most are “you’re not country, “you’re dad must be so ashamed,” and “you don’t have fiddles in your songs.” He brushes off most of it now, but just like normal people, mean comments still hurt.
Despite the trolls, Rhett got to go play on Saturday Night Live (SNL) a huge feat for any artist. He shared on The BobbyCast that he was in New York City for an entire week and was beyond nervous leading up to it. Talking to host John Mulahey about being nervous was the one thing that helped Rhett prepare for the big moment.
