Theft

On July 17th at around 4:05 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Haines Avenue and Van Buren street for a report of a male that was seen taking packages from a residence’s porch and walking away from the area. Police arrived in the area and located an individual matching the suspect description walking on the west side of College Park. While working to identify the individual, the man gave police a false name. Police ended up identifying him as 24-year-old Shamauri Hawkins of Rapid City. Hawkins was placed under arrest for Impersonation to Deceive Law Enforcement. A search of his person incident to arrest turned up several items that were still in new packaging. While searching the area, police located several discarded Amazon boxes. Officers contacted the addressee on the boxes and they were able to describe the items which were expected in the boxes. These matched the items that Hawkins was in possession of. Hawkins was additionally arrest for Theft before being transported to the Pennington County Jail.
