Pursuit

On May 17th at around 12:15 a.m., police observed a passenger vehicle travelling at an extremely high rate of speed northbound on Cambell Street near its intersection with E. Minnesota Street. Radar indicated the vehicle’s speed to be at 106 miles per hour. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle continued northbound. The vehicle turned to head west on East Saint Patrick Street and finally came to a stop near its intersection with Elm Street. The driver was ordered from the vehicle and identified as 24-year-old Jeshua Hoeft of Rapid City. Police noted his unsteady balance while walking and the smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. He was determined to be too impaired to safely operate a motor vehicle. He was placed under arrest for DUI, Aggravated Eluding, and Reckless Driving. He was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
