TMSG: Infant Didn’t Have Any Hospital Visitors, So A Nurse Adopted Her

Two years ago, Liz Smith, director of nursing at Franciscan Children’s hospital in Brighton, Mass., when she saw a tiny infant who she had not seen before. Turns out the infant had been in the hospital for 5 months. Gisele, then 8 months old, was actually born at another hospital prematurely weighing just under 2 pounds.

The state of Massachusetts took custody of Gisele when she was 3 months old and transferred her to Franciscan Children’s hospital. Since the state took custody, social workers were trying to find a home for her. Liz put in a request to foster Gisele and was granted that request. After about 2 years and countless paperwork, Liz was able to legally adopt Gisele!
