Kane Brown Praises Powerful Women In Heartfelt ‘Good As You’ Music Video

Kane Brown‘s latest music video will bring tears to your eyes.

On Thursday (April 4), the country singer released a heartfelt new visual for his song “Good As You.” A testament to the powerful women who raised him from childhood, the sentimental video reflects Brown’s own upbringing under the instruction of his mother and grandmother.

In the clip, we see a young boy (This Is Us actor Lonnie Chavis) and his sister find strength in the love of his hard-working mother and grandmother. Despite the family’s financial hardships, and the challenges the boy faces at school, on the horizon lies the young man’s bright future ahead thanks to the women who inspired him.

Brown spoke candidly with CMT.com on why the heart-warming project struck a personal chord. “I was raised with strong women around me. My mom worked multiple jobs and my Nana truly was a sheriff in my town,” he told the website. “To be able to honor them is incredible because no matter how much we struggled, my Mom and Nana never let me see it. They sheltered me from any problems and I appreciate them for that.”

“I wanted to make a video that reflected the women who raised me,” Brown added. “The opening line ’I see the way you’re taking care of your mama, the way your taking care of me.’ That was my Mom taking care of Nana and me and my Nana taking care of my MeMaw and me.”
