Kane Brown & Khalid Bring Their ‘Saturday Nights’ To 2019 ACM Awards

Kane Brown and Khalid took to the 2019 ACM Awards on Sunday night (April 7) to perform a newly-remixed version of the latter’s “Saturday Nights,” one of the many cross-genre collaborations from the superstar night of country music.

For the duo’s performance, which was introduced by Jay Hernandez, Brown kicked things off with a solo rendition of “Good As You” in front of the band and a sparkling city backdrop, before announcing Khalid’s entry for “Saturday Nights.” Immediately after, they gently navigating their way throughout the mid-tempo track, which is off the pop star’s 2018 EP, Suncity. “All the things that I know that your parents don’t/ They don’t care like I do, nowhere like I do/ And all the things that I know that your parents don’t/ They don’t care like I do, nowhere like I do/ Nowhere like I do,” the two crooned collectively during the hook.

Interestingly enough, the ACM audiences wouldn’t have the cross-genre team-up if it wasn’t for the moment when Khalid asked the rising country star to join him on the track … on his wedding day. As he recalled in an interview with Entertainment Tonight‘s Sophie Schillaci, the big ask occurred the day that Kane was getting hitched. “Khalid came to me actually on my wedding day. I was getting ready for my wedding, and he asked me if I wanted to get on a song with him, so I got two surprises in one day,” Brown said of his big day with wife Katelyn Jae.
