A woman in Tennessee is thanking a Sheriff’s Deputy for being in there to help her and her unborn child in a very scary time of need.
Sheriff’s Deputy Brittany Manning was about four minutes away from Samone Richardson’s home when Richardson began to experience pain and her water broke. She called 911 telling dispatchers that her baby was not due until April 27th, but she knew she was in labor. Deputy Manning arrived at Richardson’s home with her contractions one minute apart and the baby was coming out. As the officer delivered the baby, she noticed that the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby’s neck.
Deputy Manning proceeded to unwrap the cord, wrapped him in a blanket and placed him on his mother’s chest. Paramedics arrived two minutes later and treated the mother and son. Both mother and baby are doing well with the baby weighing three pounds and three ounces when born, and remains hospitalized. This was Manning’s first baby she had ever delivered in her seven years as a law enforcement officer.
