Chris Stapleton ‘Probably’ Won’t Release a New Album in 2019

Chris Stapleton has “done a little bit of experimenting” in the studio but can’t promise a full-length album will hit fans’ playlist this year. The reigning ACM and CMA Male Vocalist of the Year tells Billboard the follow-up to 2017’sFrom A Room: Volume 2 won’t likely happen in 2019.

“You know, I can’t say. Not that I won’t say, I actually can’t say. We don’t have anything new necessarily in the can,” Chris says. “We’ve done a little bit of experimenting, but we don’t have anything concrete. There probably won’t be [an album] this year. There will be a record in the future. I don’t know how near or how distant that future will be.” The “Millionaire” singer goes on to say he’ll re-enter the studio “when it’s exactly the right time to make the record.” “Nobody’s pushing me on it at the moment,” Chris says, “and if they did, I probably wouldn’t respond very well to it anyway because I think music should be made when you feel like making music and not the other way around.”

Chris’ 2019 All-American Road Show kicks off July 9 in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
