Alec Baldwin Released From Jail Following Arrest Over Alleged Assault

Alec Baldwin has been released from jail after being detained for an alleged assault on Friday (November 2). According to PEOPLE, the actor was pictured leaving the New York Police Department’s 6th Precinct station just hours after he was arrested for reportedly punching a man in the face over a parking spot.

Paparazzi caught the 60-year-old departing the station for his apartment in Manhattan, where the alleged assault transpired and caused the 49-year-old male victim to receive medical attention at Lenox Hill Hospital.

Baldwin was charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment, according to TMZ.

Following his release, Baldwin issued this statement via Twitter: “Normally, I would not comment on something as egregiously misstated as today’s story. However, the assertion that I punched anyone over a parking spot is false. I wanted to go on the record stating as much. I realize that it has become a sport to tag people [with] as many negative.”

He added: “Negative charges and defaming allegations as possible for the purposes of clickbait entertainment. Fortunately, no matter how reverberating the echos, it doesn’t make the statements true.”

As previously reported, witnesses claimed one of Baldwin’s friends was holding a parking spot for the 30 Rock alum when another driver took the spot for himself. One onlooker told The Daily Mail the unidentified driver was “minding his business and all of a sudden, [Baldwin] just punched him.”
